What We've Been Learning
We had fun reviewing our sight words by working in groups to build as many words in five minutes as possible and highlighting them in poems!
Phonics: I can read and write short "i" and short "e" words.
Each week we engage in activities to learn more about vowels. This week and last week we worked hard learning about short "i" and "e" words. Each child had a partner and the pair walked around to different charts to write rhyming words that focused on the vowel for the week.
Writing: I can research facts about animals. (last week)
We celebrated the hard work that the kids had done researching animals and writing about them. We love writing celebrations!
Math: I can identify and construct 3 dimensional shapes.
We started our last chapter in math this week. Our new math tubs include activities to help us explore and learn about 3 dimensional shapes.
Social Studies: I can learn to read and create simple maps.
We have had a great time learning about maps and creating our own. We have made maps of the kindergarten playground, our classroom, the red hall and maps of bedrooms.
