Week of November 27th

What we have learned and worked on throughout the week...

Writing Workshop:
The two days before Thanksgiving break we took the time to celebrate the growth that we have made as writers so far.  The kids have worked so hard and have already grown so much!  They got to choose their favorite piece of writing to share part of with the whole class and then the whole thing with a small group.  During this time the students all had the opportunity to share the work that they were most proud of, compliment the work of their friends and celebrate with a sweet treat!  We are now moving on to writing narrative stories.

Secret Reader:
Corbin's mom came to read to our class!

Mrs. Corbett, from the front office, came to read to our class!

Mrs. Knott, a reading teacher in our school, came to read to our class!

Graydon's mom came to read to our class!

Mr. Scott, our assistant principal, came to read to our class!

Week of November 13th

We had so much fun at our Veteran's Day sing along last week!  We even had a veteran come read to us!!

What we have learned and worked on throughout the week...

Reading Workshop: I can use my pointer power to match the word I read.
This week we have learned more about our reading superpowers.  We have pointer power, reread power, picture power and partner power!

Kaydence and Madeline used their partner power to become even stronger readers!

Poem:
Each week we have a new poem that we read, point to the words, put motions to, find words that we know and draw a picture of.  This week we learned Tommy Turkey.  We have loved singing and dancing this poem!!

Interactive Writing:
The line leader of the day is able to share something with the class.  Then the whole class helps that student write it down.  The line leader uses one color to write what he or she knows and I write in another color to add what they do not know yet or are unsure of.  The next day the student gets to illustrate their sentence!

Red Day
Everyone in our class knows all of the sight words on the "red list".  To celebrate we had our "red day" on Monday!  We wrote with red colored pencils, made words and letters with red playdoh, made red creatures and so much more.
