Reading Challenge #6:
Our reading challenge over spring break is to listen to books in the car.  I know a lot of you have plans to travel and kids love listening to books on tape, books on the iPad, books on a CD, etc.  If you listen to a book in the car (or at home) send me the title of some good books that other students may enjoy!

Writing Challenge #2:
Write a note or letter to someone.

Anjali wrote me a note about when we saw each other at the book fair!

Writing Challenge #4:
Write about something you have done or will do.

Hudson's writing about the football game that he went to!

More Writing Done at Home:

Lilah and Carter both wrote about the life cycle of a chick!

Carter wrote sentences!

Carter writing and solving addition and subtraction problems!

Carter wrote words that he knew or that he stretched like bubble gum!

What We've Been Learning

Literacy Centers: I can work with people in my center to grow as a reader, writer and as a mathematician.
The major focus in literacy centers is to get students engaged in reading and writing.  We learn to read and write by reading and writing.  Everything that goes into literacy centers have been learned together during other times in the day.

Emma Grace sorting animals by if they are oviparous or not oviparous!

Sadie Mae and Ryan finding and circling words that we know in known poems!

Hank, Isaac and Anjali listening to a book!  They are listening for what the characters, setting, problem and solution is so they can create and film after!

Campbell pointing under the words as she reads!

Carter, Leela and Justin reading informational texts and filming each other as they show the informational text features and explain the purpose of them (ex: table of contents, labels, etc.)!

Caroline and Van writing and drawing the characters, setting, problem and solution for their news story that they filmed after!

Mary Mac, Hope and Harper using magnifying glasses to find subtraction problems!  They then recorded them and found the answer using strategies (such as counters).

Silas playing a game and reading words with friends!

Science: I can observe and write about the life cycle of a chick.
This week we got chicken eggs!  We were able to observe the life cycle of a chick in real life.  We were scientists; we observed and recorded what we saw each day.
