Writing Challenge #4:
Our writing challenge this week is inspired by Sadie Mae, Carter and Lilah!  Last week on our class blog I added pictures of Sadie Mae and Carter's writing pieces.  They wrote stories about their experiences, trips and adventures.  This week I am adding Lilah's story which talks about her experience but also tells you steps for how to get somewhere.  Encourage your kids to write about their weekend, trips, or experiences.  They can write about something that they have done or something that they will do.  They can send these in to share or you can share a picture with us!  This will be great with spring break coming up too!

What We've Been Learning

WIN (What I Need): I can read, write and create.
During this time of day Mrs. Miller and I read and write with students.  Other students are in groups where they read with a partner, write, listen to books or use Stem bins to create.

Creating with Playdoh and tooth picks!

Writing: I can write an informative story.
We are continuing to work on informative writing.  This week we have been writing facts about oviparous animals since we have been learning about them in science.  The kids love writing facts about the "mystery" animal in their egg, reading the clues (facts) to the class and then having the class think about the facts and guess what animal is in their egg.

Hank sharing his facts about the oviparous animal he chose!

Science: I can identify oviparous animals.
We are still learning about oviparous animals; animals that lay eggs.  This week we are specifically focusing on chickens because next week we are going to get chicken eggs in our classroom!  We are hoping to see part of the life cycle of a chicken in real life.  We will have the eggs in an incubator and we hope we will be able to see them hatch!  We learned about the life cycle of a chicken to get us ready.

Leela working on her chicken life cycle wheel!
