Week of September 3rd

What we've been learning...

Reading/ Reading Workshop: I can track print from left to right.  I can tell a story through pictures.  I can read the world.
This week students have practiced reading stories by looking at the pictures.  They also learned how to "read their world".  We took a walk around the school and practiced reading our world.  First we would look, then we would think about what the words might say and then we would read them.  We also shared our environmental print with the class and were able to read the pictures.  We learned a dance that went along with some environmental print pictures!  The students were able see themselves as readers!

Social Studies: I can identify people in my community.
This week we have been talking about different community helpers and how each of these helpers make an impact in our world.  We also talked about what community helpers the students' would like to be someday.

Literacy Centers:
Students worked in groups to learn and grow.

Tracing our names with star stickers-

Guidance:
Our guidance counselor, Mrs. Luthren, came to visit our class for the first time this week!  She helped us learn that in order to be a good listener we have to use our whole body.

Ms. Gillen:
Ms. Gillen helps us read our morning message and figure out what is missing.  We love when she reads to us!

GoNoodle:
We have been learning, dancing and singing throughout each day to get our wiggles out.  We use "body spell" to help us learn how to spell our new sight words each week.
