Reading Challenge #4:
Our reading challenge this week is inspired by Harper and Emma Grace.  They both sent pictures of them reading in the car.  This week I encourage you to add a pile of books to your car for your child to read.  Many people live crazy, busy lives and are always on the go.  What better way to spend a car ride than to listen to your sweet children read!  Send a picture of the pile of books in your car and/ or of your children reading in the car.

What We've Been Learning

Phonics:  I can read and write short "a" words.
This week we have been studying what sound the short "a" makes by playing games to locate short "a" words, finding short "a" words in poems, writing short "a" words and reading short "a" words to match them to pictures.

Reading short "a" words and finding the matching picture.

Writing short "a" words.

Reading: I can identify the problem and solution of a story.
We have been working on listen to stories and identifying the problem and solution.  The kids have started to try this out on their on during independent reading time.

Caroline was sharing the problem and solution in the book The Little Red Hen!
